ABF - BASIC

Baseball & Academic Skills Instructional Course (B.A.S.I.C.)–  Reading, STEMS (Science Technology Engineering Math through Sports) and sports programs for under-served children

indgirlsread2BASIC instruction is offered in three formats for under-served students, ages 7 to 14

  • BASIC Summer lasts for one or five weeks, with the objective of preventing summer learning loss among the children most at risk.
  • BASIC after school  reorganizes BASIC summer curriculum into two forty-five minute sessions that engage active participation in the classroom and on the field.
  • BASIC in school treats  children during the school day with a four one hour and forty five minute session of reading and safe baseball/softball activities in a fun environment. Biographies of heroes such as Willie Mays and Roberto Clemente highlight the brief course that challenges students to read more and more often.
